Mine's is just starting to bud up - and it didn't drop all it's leaves :) Still tiny compared to this one!

Mine took a while to drop its leaves too. At least you know they grow fast!
It's called seven-son tree because the flowers are arranged in a whorl of six with one in the center. Not sure where the son comes from.

I wonder, if it is true, that if plants do not lose all their leaves in a winter are overfertilised. I mean now normal winter, very cold. What do you think, Rkwright?

Usually if plants are over-fertilized they push soft new growth in late summer that doesn't harden off in time for winter. Not sure if it causes them to hold their leaves longer. Some plants just don't drop leaves in fall, like oakleaf hydrangea. Anyways, I'll have to see what I can find out about that. Last year the leaves on my kousa dogwood turned from green to brown and didn't drop until winter. It sounds like over-fertilizing but I hadn't fertilized it at all that summer.

Áá, so oakleaf hydrangea doesn´t drop leaves in fall? That is good to know, as it is a pretty new Hydrangea in my collection. My Cornus kousa is absolutely "naked".

My oakleaf hydrangeas usually drop their leaves in December, might be earlier or later for you. My C. kousa is naked this year too but the buds on it look huge!
