Agave Blooming

Agave Blooming (Agave)

These dwarf Agave plants (the flower spikes only grow to 12ft/4m tall) are blooming. I see them everywhere around San Diego blooming now. Not sure of the species. Photo taken at Cardiff-by-the-Sea, San Diego County, CA. on Feb. 22, 2012.

Pantholic:

Thanks! This is a smaller species of agave, it blooms I see them blooming every year (of course not the same plant).

The Agave attenuata plant are blooming all over, also. More so than I ever remember in the past.

Sandra:

This Agave is not the century plant. Agave americana (Century plant) blooms in summer and takes from 15 to 30 years to bloom. It grows wild in so many canyon areas here, that there's thousands in bloom every summer.
