I planted up some Crocus chrysanthus bulbs last year - much to my disappointment - I have only lonely little yellow flower in this pot.

I have been trying crocus literally for years. This year I have my wish. No wild life eating either the bulbs or the shoots. Or sometimes the leaves. I would go out to a patch in the morning, hoping to see a bunch of Spring, and Gone. This year, a bumper crop. I planted maybe twenty five in a group. I was thinking maybe quantity was needed! Then I sprinkled wild life deterrent all around the clumps. Everytime it rained, I looked very hard to see if the enemy was approaching. If I thought they needed more deterrent, they got it. Oh, I forgot to mention, buy very good bulbs from a reputable place. This year finally, I have a decent looking bunch. I think that is the key, big bunches and no eating...Hope this helps.

Well done on finally succeeding with you crocus Wells. You must be very pleased you vigilance has paid off!!
These are but a few of the bulbs I planted I've got around 50% golden and the rest purple or purple and white so I'm not too disappointed. They are all in pots for now but intend to naturalise the in the lawn once they are finished.
