Gorgeous pic ! :))

One hundred attempts to photograph one flower - you cannot possibly deny your obsession now Sticki!!!

9 Mar, 2012

thank you scottish, bloomer and pixi

meanie ~ that does include taking over 100 photos, most of which have now been deleted from the re-cycled bin!!!

i still havent got it right.

It's a booger of a colour to capture Sticki!

9 Mar, 2012

is that why its so difficult?

9 Mar, 2012

I think that it depends on the cameras software, but I seem to recall having to use the flash in daylight to capture it well, or in full sun with a tweak to the settings worked too.

9 Mar, 2012

Ok, will try tomorrow hopefully with natural light, with my luck there will be dark clouds and a gale force wind!

9 Mar, 2012

You'll have to buy some in different colours Sticki!

9 Mar, 2012

What more?? That would mean even more photos!

9 Mar, 2012

I know!!!

10 Mar, 2012

The next stage is the trickiest, keeping them and hoping they will produce new bulbs, have to see how I get on with that first I think!

10 Mar, 2012

That is easy - really!

10 Mar, 2012

Really? thats the bit im worrying about. Bampy has given me instructions though ~ i will be reading them carefully!

10 Mar, 2012

You'll be ok with them Sticki.

10 Mar, 2012

is it the light or the time that is most crucial in taking this photo? the sun is trying to come out so maybe a chance for natural light??

10 Mar, 2012

Try now using flash.
Adjust the flash settings, white balance (if on manual setting) etc and see what happens.

10 Mar, 2012

not disastrous but the flash seems to be in too small an area, so it quickly creates shade where i dont want it.

10 Mar, 2012

very nice Sticki, try reflecting light of white card that works for me, it's not to harsh a light...

10 Mar, 2012

Welcome to my world!

Can you turn the camera 90° to alter the angle of the flash?

10 Mar, 2012

thanks SL, im not quite sure how to get that right but i will have a try.

the flash is built in meanie so no i cant.

the thing that surprises me that even in natural light there is a sheen on the petal that looks white in the photo ~ but its really purple

it just looks great for a photo but its so difficult; strangely not unlike a beautiful beach that i can never capture on the camera.

"the thing that surprises me that even in natural light there is a sheen on the petal that looks white in the photo ~ but its really purple"

Back to the camera manual then. There should be a contrast control function somewhere that should help.

10 Mar, 2012

oh thanks meanie!! [you really do have the wrong name] its not knowing what to look for is part of the problem!!

10 Mar, 2012

Great picture sticki, the feathery quality on the petals is fantastic.

15 Mar, 2012

That's the bit I tried to get Sam! Thanks, I found it really quite difficult

15 Mar, 2012
