Stachyurus Praecox

This is the very first little flower on this shrub which I have had now for three winters. I almost gave up on it, but the early flowers made me stick with it. I don't think there will be any more this year...but next year.....let's hope it really goes for it!

Yes, it has taken a while, but where it is planted, the soil is dry on top, so it will have needed to get it's roots deep down. It's looking healthy now though and lots of new stems. It's actually quite a good 'autumn colour' shrub as well as winter flowering.

No, not really rose...'early stachyurus' is the only other name mentioned on here....

It's not commonly grown, which is surprising when you see the photos. I love it!
