Stachyurus Praecox

Stachyurus Praecox

This is the very first little flower on this shrub which I have had now for three winters. I almost gave up on it, but the early flowers made me stick with it. I don't think there will be any more this year...but next year.....let's hope it really goes for it!

Glad you gave it a chance. Looks like it is getting properly settled in at last.

Yes, it has taken a while, but where it is planted, the soil is dry on top, so it will have needed to get it's roots deep down. It's looking healthy now though and lots of new stems. It's actually quite a good 'autumn colour' shrub as well as winter flowering.

Thanks Paul...I just point and click. My camera works out the best focus for itself!

I've never heard of this Karen, does it have a more common name?

No, not really rose...'early stachyurus' is the only other name mentioned on here....

It's not commonly grown, which is surprising when you see the photos. I love it!
