Ficus bengalensis - Indian Banyan Tree

Ficus bengalensis - Indian Banyan Tree (Ficus bengalensis - Indian Banyan Tree)

This young Indian Banyan tree was planted last summer. It's pretty small now, however, it will become a gigantic tree one day. It's a perfect site to plant this tree. Photo taken March 15, 2012 in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.

My neighbours brother grew these as bonsai back in Bangladesh. Apparently they make a good specimen.

Yes, most Ficus species make excellent bonsai.

I only found out about his bonsai interest recently. He was popping around a lot for coffee lately - I thought that it was because I made great coffee but it was really because he liked being amongst my plants!
I've started him some Laburnum seeds off which make a nice specimen too.

Yes, for many people being around plants has a real calming effect. There's actually been studies done.
