Sometimes, yes. This past winter was very, very mild. The garden has been going through a transformation since last year, as we added a german shepherd/husky pup to our family. I think that puppy has done more damage than any previous winter. : ) New pictures of the garden will be coming in a few weeks.

Lol. I can imagine the GSD/Husky taking over the garden....
Lucky that your winter wasn't too severe.

is that a spreading hydrangea?

Lauram,
That was a Nikko Blue Hydrangea. I no longer have it, as that was one of the plants I had to remove when we got the puppy. I had read that they are poisonous to dogs. Now that we are well past the puppy chewing stage, I am going to purchase another one and place it in a fenced in area of the yard. I almost cried when I dug that up. It was beautiful! Luckily, it found a new home at my friend's house.
