Sambucus racemosa, Red Berried Elder

Sambucus racemosa, Red Berried Elder (Sambucus racemosa (Red-berried elder))

This was a healthy stand I found along the Sterling Highway Kenai Peninsula Alaska. Another that is more a coastal plant, I just couldn't enjoy it enough. I live around 500 miles from this location in Alaska.

From the latin root racemus meaning cluster. Seems to be common as a second definition for many species with a cluster at the raceme. So your ficus has a cluster flower or berry. There is a euclyptus racemosa also. That might be found down under too. :-)

Lovely latin. Little by little I pick up a little more. I thought it would be a little more along the lines of rosey in color, but I wasn't right about that.

What else?

See who else is growing Sambucus racemosa (Red-berried elder).

See who else has plants in genus Sambucus.
