Lovely border and lucky you I've never been lucky enough to see the hummingbird hawk moth, except on pictures on here.

Shenuk....I would love you to do a blog on your wildflower area....I am thinking of having similar in the garden. I've just sown some wildflower seeds. I shall need to lift some turf to accommodate them, but am thinking of leaving some turf to grow long. Would love to know how you created yours! :)

A blog eh? Hmm.. only trouble with me is I talk too much.. so my blog might go on a bit :D I was thinking of doing another blog actually, so I will include a wildlife section within it. The most important piece of wildlife advice I could possibly give you (with my very limited knowledge...) is do absolutely nothing to it. That's it. Just leave it alone. Its your wild area after all :)

Oh Shenuk.....that's toooooo much to ask. I am a terrible 'doer' in the garden!! But now you have really inspired me. The pond is back on the agenda, with a pebble border around it like Terratoonie's and lots of wild flowers planted around and about that. I'm sorry, but it looks like 'doing nothing at all' is definitely off the agenda...now, where did I put my wellies and spade.....;))

Haha.. that tickled me. When I said 'do nothing' I should elaborate more. I meant, once the flowers are in, try not to shape it or over weed it etc :) I've seen your pictures of your garden and they very pretty indeed! I just keep one small section of my garden totally free for wildlife by not over weeding or tending to it too much at all and planting lots and lots of wild flower seeds. Then I just let it be. That's the place the hedgehogs love to come and roll around in and the bees, moths and butterflies love to explore freely. Your pond would be the perfect place to do it. A few wild flowers planted around is all that's necessary and let nature take its course. I always feel that one little corner of wildness is my way of giving something back when my lawn and borders etc are quite uniform :)
