Drat ! Yep ! I meant erithronium !
Talking of 'yellow' I just went out to take some shots of my yellow magnolia only to find the buds are brown, classic frost damage. Hopefully the closed buds will develop undamaged. Photos going up later.

This makes a dramatic comparison to the photo I posted this morning! You get magnolia petals and I get snow. I love these plants.

You do make me laugh Brian - Magnolia mess! I would love to have a mess as pretty as that! I have just acquired a small erythronium pagoda. I put the pot in the place where I wanted to plant it only to find a squirrell had nipped in and bitten the one and only flower stem off when I returned. Is it a bulb? They do seem to be attracted to bulbous plants and dig the bulb out if they can. drat those squirrells!

Poppy my language is somewhat stronger than yours when comes to squirrel, they do more damage than badger and fox and they regularly poke around in the garden.Finished that rant.
Your Erythronium is defined as a Tuber but Bulb family, its recommended to plant fairly deep.If you plant it in the garden and are concerned it may get eaten plant when dormant minimum four inch deep and an inch above the tuber lay a piece of chicken wire pour fine soil through and water to make sure there are no air pockets ,fill the the hole level an all should be well.
We hope.

Hi Poppylover, I sowed your Nicotianas last month.....still nowt happening.....I talk to the seed tray everyday!!

Lulu, Nicotianas take AGES to germinate. Have patience, they do start to grow - mine took about 4 weeks to start, but it has been a bit chilly.

Oh goody. They are the most exciting seeds I've got!!
