They flower from mid April onward here. The city is full of flashes of red.

Wow! That's earlier than they bloom in south Florida.
It must look so beautiful with these trees lining the streets in your city.
This tree has only become popular here in coastal southern California over the last 12 years or so. There's many old trees out in Palm Springs and other cities in the Coachella Valley of California (low subtropical desert). The temps are already up to 105ºF/41ºC out there in the Coachella Valley.
Delonix regia (Royal Poinciana) loves heat and must have it to bloom well.

Gorgeous! They bloom early there (they bloom this early in the low subtropical desert, here in California). However, never this early here in San Diego.
