Oh well Sue, so long as they are ok now.
Trust you Yorks, you were lucky !!

I think that is why OH likes them so much, because the frost and snow does not damage them

Most of mine are ok, but one or two did struggle this year,

22 Apr, 2012

They're all looking healthy Cinders.

Yes they are now Sheila thanks

They are both looking very healthy ... I have put the over-Wintered Hostas in the pots by the front door again ... within three days the leaves were holey ... grr! ...

Oh dear, I have gravel on mine, plus I put some pellets around the rim, I don't usually have much bother, but now I've said that I probably will.

Yes, mine has really suffered too. I hope it will recover.

22 Apr, 2012

I'm sure it will Karen, they are pretty tough

'Sweet Tea', is lovely....mine suffered too...I think our Winter was too warm, it did better during last years very cold Winter....

22 Apr, 2012

You could be right there Mot, strange how they did better last year when it was so very cold

Those snails especially, will climb up the wall or even another plant, and drop onto the Hosta, or whatever plant it wants to eat....grrr...I use pellet the treated variety, after try everything else that doesn't work...

A tip given to me with pots, is always grease the rims and just under, so they can't get a grip...

yes thats another good idea

Cinders, I put a few pellets in with the top dressing of grit yesterday ... in one pot this morning was a large Snail ... it's now residing elsewhere ... lol!

Same here Shirley, a thoroughly miserable day, still I have got a few jobs done indoors.

23 Apr, 2012

Well done ... it's actually stopped raining now (7pm) ... :o)

I love this Heuchera and like you this one has struggled but looking good now, love the Hosta, the trouble with me is I moved loads of plants last September and now have no idea where half of our Hostas are I have some very large gaps in one of the borders where the Hostas used to be.......just hoping I put something in there!!!

23 Apr, 2012

Yes I love this one. It was beautiful last summer so hoping for great things. The hosta I only got towards the end of last year, but it was lovely and looks like its going to be much bigger this time. Hope yours come up DD.
