Oh I give up

We don't get squirrels in the garden until the hazelnuts are ripening. I see you have lots of mature trees near to your garden, so squirrels anytime. They are rather intelligent over hazlenuts. They keep checking and then they start burying them all over the place, pinching sunflower seeds, if they can too. Later they return and take a nut out of the lawn, clean it and bury it in another place. I am pulling out seedlings of hazels all the time from borders and the patio pots.

Yes I Know just what you mean .I have nuts buried in my pot plants and soil all over the slabs. Then they come back to dig them up which wouldn't be so bad if the little !!!!!! didn't then go and bury them again in another pot and eat my bulbs instead.
