Papaya carica 'Maradol' - Maradol Papaya Callapse

Papaya carica 'Maradol' - Maradol Papaya Callapse (Papaya carica 'Maradol' - Maradol Papaya)

My 9 year old Maradol Papaya has collapsed. It is very common for old papaya plants to rot or collapse because of bug damage. They usually live only 7 - 12 years max. This plant has produced very well for 8 yeas (which is a long time for a papaya). Photo taken Apr 25, 2012.

Karenfrance:

Yes, it was a very productive plant. It never grow super tall, which was good -- easier to pick the fruit.

Yes, this was 1 of 3 in a pot, which I purchased from The Home Depot. The 2 others were removed a few years ago.
