Cottonwood Trees, Populus deltoides

This is the tree found all along the canyon wearing this wonderful winter coat of bare white branches on long dark trunks. That darkness was enhanced by a cold rain this day. These were one of the favorite features of this canyon for me. (there were many) :-)

Thank you all. :-) I can say i spent more than one day wending my way through, amazed and shooting pictures. These white branches just amazed me, glowing in the light. This populus variety is found only along this southwest belt.

Thank you. I had a deep darker light so I had to filter it 'digitally' a little for color. Beautiful things, these cottonwoods. I hadn't even put two and two together that they would be named after this striking white! Perfect Homebird.
