i had to look that up Lori, apparently there are 45 species of orchid in the Gers, Gascony, below is a page with photos of all of them.
some are protected but others get mown down regularly by the council men, they are not very particular in what they destry, orchids to them are 10 a penny! in fact many are!! lol
i wld love them in my garden and since i have now gardened without using chmicals for about 7 years they are beginning to creep back in, i have tongue, lizard and bee orchids so far and one unidentified one, due to cross pollination probably. last year there were 5 and this year about 12 so we are getting exited.
i have tried to 'rescue' some before the council came to mow the verges but been unsuccessful so far.

Good work! You won't have to do too much work on the soil to prepare, and they're already "acclimated"...lol. If you don't find your "unidentified" one in any botanicals...isolate it and name it~ Your very own orchid.
How exciting! off to take a look at the site you sent..thanks.

Wow! 16 species. That's a really good source for you...have you inquired about your "incognito"?

Know what you mean...point, click and cross your fingers. I adjusted the white balance but it doesn't make a real difference when the sun is direct. How many different wild orchids do you have there, M? Are you going to start collecting them for your own garden, or are they protected?
