This one was chopped back because it never flowered, it must have gone into shock as this is the second years flowers after its major trim back. The first year it only had one flower it is covered in blooms this year.

It was so sickly that I decided to let Paul loose with the chain saw, it has sprouted from the base of the trunk quite amazing really it never ever had this much blossom before.

Me too Michaella it is so dark isn't it! I have a white one which always has a lot of flowers but is much taller and not so easy to get to smell the perfume, the only problem with the white is I find it soon goes brown especially after all the rain we have had.

I had to stop at the churchyard the other day to pull one down for a sniff. Poor dog nearly got stangled as I stretched up to get it...her lead was on short! lol :)

They are so moody aren't they? The colour of yours is stunning! I think my variegated Syringa Emodi is going to have a flower or two, but they don't have a good perfume, sadly. Good to know that a good prune does no harm. It rarely seems to though does it? ;)
