Cactus Penjing

Cactus Penjing

This is the penjing created recently using common flowering cacti. The rugged rock was created by cementing smaller irregular lava rocks . Pockets and hollows were created to house some small plants like portulacas

Me too..Love the pot, I wish I still had my kiln to make one like that. Very clever to cement the rocks and make a mountain.......in my faves.

I love cacti and succulents. They always look nice in arrangements ....

I'm getting my kiln set up again, so I might make some containers for cactus arrangements :o)

Hi Every one. Thank you for your comments. Certainly gives impetus to do more share more.
The pot is from a local supplier and does not cost much may be 5 pounds or so.
Shall be posting some more pics soon

I used to "pot" too . . . still have some bowls and a plate. Used to love doing the glazing (and banging the clay was so therapeutic!).

Please keep sharing Devika...good price for a lovely pot.

It is therapeutic Sheila, just like bread making...I hated the glazing part so unpredictable.

18 May, 2012

But . . . if it worked out well, it was thrilling to achieve an attractive glaze . .

lots more pictures please devika ~ that would be lovely.

never done 'potting' but the idea of the glazing being unpredictable is exactly what would appeal to me!!

One of the nicest glazes I ever got was a complete fluke...wrong kiln temperature or placing..it came out a trasparent body deposited with Egyptian faience blues and greens..

18 May, 2012

how fabulous ~ have you still got the pot?

Used to live on Mums gravel bed...I will have a look when I go.

The ones I have are wax resist mat browns..much more reliable.

18 May, 2012

wax resist is used in pottery?

18 May, 2012

Yes...a lot

never knew that ~ we used to use it with 3 year olds painting!
