No Pete, Sunderland. We have twin beaches - Seaburn and Roker. The one in this pic is Seaburn. South Shields is further north along the coast

Sheilar....I haven't been near my beach for weeks and weeks. Like yours it is only a short walk away and yet with this weather I haven't been. I was only saying to OH how much I am missing it this year. Next bit of sunshine and I shall get down there and paddle.....so easy to take it for granted isn't it.... :D

I find the best time to walk along the beach is when it's snowing!! It's not as cold as you'd expect it to be. I must admit this year, we haven't been there much, probs due to the weather.

I agree! I like it in the winter too. I think it is because the beach, even in the winter it really looks the same as in the summer, so not as depressing as muddy fields and slushy roads! I like it best when there is a really sharp frost and the top of the sand has a crust on it and sparkles! :D
