Don't know this at all, but it is pretty with plenty of promise in those buds.

I think I missed getting a picture of them in full bloom...but I have photos going back a year or two of it blooming in the woodland. they have a sweet smell and I picked them as a child in Muskoka...called them May flowers! Amy, last spring I did some blogging about the wildflowers which I've found here at the new place..claytonia was one of them, also trilliums, white and red, and Solomon's seal and false solomon's seal, tiarella, and about a half acre of naturalized lily of the valley! So many wild flowers that I'm embarrassed at my temerity of thinking I was going to put in a garden!!! lol... nature beat me to it!

Yes I remember Lori I was so impressed with the Trilliums as they are hard to come by here .....

Lovely woodland plant Lori. Lovely to have a woodland garden, especially in Spring.

Thanks Dorjac, every time I pick out a corner to improve I have to look closely to make sure I'm not destroying something wonderful when trying to add my mediocre touches! lol... I find this type of gardening has forced me to lighten my hand. The only part that is taxing is the amount of area I have to cut grass! Last garden I just filled every crannie with plants so that I didn't have to worry about a lawn...here there are acres and acres and I'm not getting any younger~! Would take decades to do that here.

That's the problem Lori to retain the ability to cope with the garden you come to in middle age. We have help with what is a tiny garden compared to your woodland concept. Yesterday our garden help cut the 2 lawns and strimmed edges. He cut some overgrown bits off Hawthorn and Laburnum and Hazel. I have trimmed Camellias and planted out and potted up and watered and cleared debris, brushed paths etc. In the afternoon 4 hours were taken up with a visit to hospital for OH's immune therapy. 3-4 hot days in a row are lovely but not my scene!
