Its not my hedge, its a hedge from hell I'm afraid.
The neighbour that planted is long gone, and the two tenants that have come in since, do not look after it!
Each year I have to cut it down to around six feet so that I can get some light into my garden.
I put the montana in to brighten it up, but ironically, the other side of the hedge (the neighbours side) gets the best of the sunlight so as a consequence he gets more montana flowers than me. :o((

Looks like leylandii Teegee, they do need a lot of care so they don't get away...what a shame they belong to your neighbour whose not a gardener. I notice the best parts of my Tamarisk are now blossoming in next doors....:((

Sorry Janey I have misled you;
The Clematis belongs to me the leylandii hedge belongs to my neighbour.
Will be doing a bit of pruning back once the montana has finished flowering.
