Very gorgeous!

It's really doing well these days. Everything that's in there just seems to love it. I am adding some more New Guinea Impatiens soon, but apart from that I'm quite happy with the way it's looking now.

New Guinea Impatiens are always good for a variegated leaf and flowers. :>)

Absolutely! They do sometimes have a hard time getting through out wet seasons though. That's the only downside.

Bernieh:

Is it because it's too hot and humid or just too wet?

28 May, 2012

It's all of those things Andy. The temps are very hot as you know, the humidity sometimes hits 99% and we get a lot of rain in a relatively short amount of time. They survive a whole lot better in the wet tropic areas, which sounds strange, but there are definite differences between the wet and dry tropic zones.

Yes, I would guess they would grow better in the wet tropics. New Guinea Impatiens love water. They do well here in San Diego in semi-shade and live only 3 or 4 years (or look their best within this time-frame).

I've only got one left from last year's little collection, and it's coming back very very slowly. I think I'm going to have to start regarding them more as biennials!

They are definitely not a long-lived plant.
