I've got one, planted last year, against my gable end...it's got lots of flower buds and shoots!

I have found they can be very slow to take off in clay soil.
So I tried starting off this one differently, I grew it in a large pot of compost in some shade and watered well for a year till it was quite a size. I was then able to plant it here last autumn, as it was up a trellis I found I did not need to cut off any of its branches Scotkat.

I hope that's a nice strong fence! You should see the size of ours - they can romp away rather too enthusiastically if they're happy and get a bit above themselves!

Thats what I hope it will do Gattina lol. I saw one once in a stately homes garden and it was over 30 wide each side of the plant and about 6ft high.

And then some! We have in past years, when doing decorating and maintenance on the house, pulled vast swathes of the stuff off the walls, going up two stories, and back it comes again, stronger than ever, but it's so pretty, I can forgive it almost anything!

Oh! I hope that mine does that too! :)

Yesterday we thought we, too, had a swarm of bees somewhere near the house, the buzzing and humming was so loud, and all it was was the H. petiolaris alive with the little critturs, all collecting nectar like there was no tomorrow.

Oh...from my point of view (I was stung twice in the wisteria a couple of weeks ago), it's a good job it looks after itself, then...
