I actually had a large flowering Spathodea campanulata in Hayward. It grew very fast and did very well...however, one thing...you never want to plant it by a down spout. It'll eventually rot the roots.
Schotia brachypetala is a very hardy tree or shrub and does very well in the SF Bay Area.

Never heard of it.. I like that your posting tropical flowering tree's that arent just Jacaranda and Brachychitons. If they could bloom in large pots like Spathodea does up here..a bonus!
