Back yard

Back yard

My main backyard area. The trees are pittosporum u. that I grew from seed, and are along the north side to help block some of the wind.

It looks very sheltered there. :)

Only from the east. I am still trying to get better wind blocks on the other side, tall enough to block the wind without blocking too much sun. I'm on the north side of the island, and in December there is a hill on the south side that blocks the sun for much of the day. I don't have very many daylilies that are dormant types, so I am trying to get a balance. The wind can be very strong, even today it is gusts over 60kph which shreds the flowers.

Lovely place to sit, or are you just hiding those daylilies from me and Daglelie ;-)

I like to have a chair at each end - one for the morning and the other for the afternoon and evening. This area is hidden from the road, so no one knows what I have been doing there.

So these are your kids? Beautiful view from your seat, isnĀ“t it?

I enjoy locking up the kids (my cats) and coming out here by myself, not worrying if they will chase each other through the plants, breaking everything as they go.

I like to do just the same Wylie, I have a swing seat right near the daylily bed, my favourite place to sit, here its the magpies we have to watch they're terrible for pecking the scapes off, don't know why they do it, one day last year I woke up to a right racket to find 5 or 6 of them pecking the heads off all the yellow and red daylilies, utter devastation, flowers everywhere :-(, you've never got a shotgun when you need one, lol.
