Thanks - I tried and tried to get a photo of my purple one - but only succeeded in photographing my arm and my hand - it's in the middle of the border! LOL. I'll dive in again tomorrow.

I've got some penstemon in my border, there still in bud, hope when mine come out they look as good as your's.

I love them - I can't resist a new different one! AND it's very easy to take cuttings in the summer - I was helping a friend with her garden last year and unfortunately broke a large piece off her Penstemon. However, I took loads of cuttings and got 12 new plants from them. She was very pleased! (So was I because some came my way). A hint if you want to take cuttings - I have tried the normal way in compost but can't get them to root, so I pop them into water and they root like mad!
