More foxgloves

I didn't think I liked the flowers on the Sambucus...I may have just changed my mind.

Morning Tracey, at last Ive found a few plants that like this shady part of the garden - glad you like it too whew!
Pimp, this is black lace, much more cut to the leaves and you can cut it back hard each spring. This one was only planted last year. Its one of my favourite shrubs now.

Thanks for all your comments folks. This one is a good variety because the flowers point upwards and you can see all the lovely markings. I hope it self seeds but Ill sow some more just in case. Pimp I wonder why your black lace hasnt flowered yet? perhaps it will come later, hope so.

Lovely combination Poppy. I see your black lace has grown like mine, with one side higher than the other, do you think it's the nature of the beast?:-)

It tends to be that way for me BA. The neighbours garden behind this planting is full of mature sweet chestnut trees. We paid to have them cut back last year so this is the first time Ive been able to grow anything in this spot. I planted the sambucus last year. Ive read they are good if you chop them right back each year, so Ill do that next year - didnt have the heart this year! lol.

I know what you mean Poppy, it's like the yalways tell you to chop clems when you first plant them...never been able to. I'll give black lace a chop though:-)
