Acrocarpus fraxinifolius - Pink Cedar

Acrocarpus fraxinifolius - Pink Cedar (Acrocarpus fraxinifolius - Pink Cedar)

These are perhaps the tallest Pink Cedars in the state of California. At almost 90ft/28m tall they are a magnificent flowering tree (not flowering now, though). This Burma (Myanmar) native looses it's leaves in mid-winter and blooms in late winter or very early spring. Photo take at the San Diego Zoo on June 29, 2012.

Dottydaisy2:

Yes, the San Diego Zoo is world-famous! It's a little more than 100 acres. It's also a world-famous botanical gardens. The exotic tropical/subtropical plants/trees are actually insured for more than the animals, believe-it-or-not.

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park (fka: The San Diego Wild Animal Park) in northern San Diego County is almost 3,000 acres.
