Wonderful birds. I've only ever had one visiting the garden, but I'm glad he came.

W.they are around pretty well all the time see more of them in the winter,took that pic from inside the kitchen window.

Good morning, Brian. I have young Amelanchier in the garden too. I bought it in GC last autumn, as I liked colours of its leaves. I learned, that it has edible fruits, but mine did not bloom this year. Do you know, if berries are typical only for certain sorts of A. or do they bloom and have fruits after certain age?
Anyway, this picture is lovely and berries look attractive not just for this bird :)

The one I have is A.Canadianism and always flowers and fruit.It also throws up some root suckers and have on occasions left them a while before removing so as a sapling have seen no flowers.But would not really expect any for a few years,I think most varieties are grown for there flowers which are spectacular but short lived.

Nice picture - love birds - and bullfinches are so handsome to see

He is a handsome chap. we had one in the garden attacking the heuchera flowers last week. We have not seen one for a couple of years but they used to be frequent visitors. They can be a real pest, destroying the buds on fruit trees.
