This is the first foxglove to flower which were grown by my friend Elizabeth( Libet as you know her) I can't believe how tall it is and there are another 12 to flower, all Apricot and white.

i love the white ones, never seen apricot ~ would love to see that when it comes out.

No, I haven't Stickie and it hasn't flowered yet. Thanks Mel, the "shed" was a small summer house with glass doors at the front which we bought years ago and it was too small , so we had a canopy roof added as wherever we sit in the garden , we are always under trees. And what sits in our trees...pigeons! Need I say more. I tried to make this building a bit more respectable by painting the inside and hanging different things on the walls, but what I'd really like (good job hubby isn't around!) is a lovely free standing conservatory! Don't think I'm going to get one though and we don't do the lottery!! And wouldn't this building look good on my allotment! Lol.

I have had a couple of perennial foxgloves "Camelot Cream". They are a beautiful pale cream with wine coloured markings, but I haven't been terribly successful at keeping them. I haven't seen last year's yet so regretfully assume I've lost that. Funny when the bog standard ones do so well in my garden. Oh well, you can't win 'em all!

Is that woodpecker nailed to the post? I've got one of those! Or is it one of the incontinent pigeons?!!

Hahaa Mel! Yes it is a woodpecker.Its a pity Minnie and Mickey don't keep the pigeons in check! I have had this plan in mind for a while but I think its just a dream! Ah well, you can't have everything!
Libets fine Hywel. Its just that she is so busy with their design business and now they have taken on a lot of landscaping jobs as well, I just think she doesn't have the time. Hubby and I are going to stay with them in August in ireland and are really looking forward to that. I will tell her you asked after her.

I think it's important to have dreams, Rose, otherwise everything just stagnates. I have a fantasy about a beautifully co-ordinated and elegant bedroom with lovely fitted furniture! But when it comes to it, something else always takes priority! (Like a new washing machine, for instance, or some new slates on the roof - you know, the romantic things of life!)

Do you know, Mel, we have been going to do our bedroom up for the last 10 years, but I actually love the old fashioned furniture we've got and don't really want to change it. Hubby does though, soooo what I could say is, do the bedroom as long as I can one day have my new summerhouse/ conservatory!

Oh yes - keep on negotiating!! I agree with you, though - it's actually me who says "Well.... is it worth it?" In an ideal world, we'd have an island paradise to escape to while the house got fixed top to bottom. Now there's a dream for you!!!

Our problem is , Mel that our home is a listed building and even if we could afford it, wouldn't be able to knock a wall through for my longed for conservatory, hence the dream of a free standing one, and they do exist. Although this is our home for life, we only rent it and hubby doesn't think we should be spending all that money on something for someone else when we go to that big garden in the sky! If you'd seen this house and land when we took it on 13 years ago and what we have done to it ourselves, I don't agree with him. Still, I am happy with my lot and shouldn't complain!

My daughter's parents-in-law each live in listed bulidings, and my daughter and son-in law's flat is in a listed block in Glasgow. I know it can be an absolute pain! When her FIL needed the chimney fixed, the flags around the fireplace had to be numbered so they could be put back in exactly the same place! Our opposite neighbours have a free standing conservatory - it's very nice. It is a dilemma in rented property, though.

We are allowed to do things inside the house, but not knocking walls down, although saying that and this is only if it were ours, my son and wife are architectural designers and he said that it is possible if its made in keeping with the building, but then we would need to do the lottery! Lol.

Mmm - sadly, that is so often true! Ah well - it's back to dreams, Rose!
