Mysterious painting?

This painting re-appears in one small gallery, about which I have already written on this webpage. There is black cat on it and the painting is called Pharaoh. It is "portrait" of the gallery owner´s cat. However, whoever buys this painting, in a couple of days it is returned as radiating "bad energy". Any idea what it could be?

Hi, HB, that sounds interesting and new to me. I never heard about that. But I also never saw a painting of a crying child :)))
I have heard from my grandmother that painting where there is painted a road/path, that one brings not very happy life to the owner. As far as I know, almost all paintings we have, have some path on it, lol.
Yorkshire@this was not advertisement. I think she is anyway not going to sell it to anyone.:)

Strange - black cats are usually considered to be good luck! I wonder if it is something to do with the cat looking backwards & not forwards? Just a suggestion.

I think black cats mean good luck only in Harry Potter´s British isles, lol.
Seriously, its meaning varies with culture. In my society they are considered to be bad luck. In Christian Europe, they were considered to be evil´s animals, especially associated with witches :))) Maybe you remember the character Behemoth in "The Master and Margarita", a black cat capable to stand on two legs, talking, playing chess and having a penchant for vodka and pistols. She was Devil´s (Master) companion. Finally, gamblers are afraid of black cat. When black cat crosses their road, they believe it is sign they shouldn´t go to casino that day :))))

"The Master and Margarita" - one of my favourite books ever when I was young, but it's very weird!
We have a little black cat called Inky, but she has one ginger eyebrow, so possibly not eligible to be a witch's familiar!

It is very educational book, Gattina. Did you see the last film version? It is in Russian language but with English titles too on youtube. I think everybody will find himself/herself in that film. Have a nice Sunday.

I hadn't even realised there WAS a film of it. Thank you, you too.

I guess it depends whether you're inclined to superstition or not - if you believe black cats are lucky, you might decide the picture brings you good luck. If you think they're 'bad' in some way, then the presence of this picture may trouble your psyche...
I'm not superstitious - but I really like the 13th when it falls on a Friday - I always seem to have a really good day when it does, even though its supposed to be unlucky. But I'll admit I do try to keep the toilet lid closed - for feng shui reasons, lol.

:)))) That´s useful. I mean that toilet lid kept closed. I agree with you, that pictures or painting can reflect our inner world. However, there exist paintings, which do not bring to their owners any good. I remember for instance, when I studied medicine at the college, that one of our university mates had a big copy of van Gogh´s painting pricked to the wall. You maybe know that painting which seems like wheat field before heavy storm. The clouds and wheat create tensious whirls/circles and all that induced some form of tension among people. Without talking about that I found that people who came to that room became tensious, complained different neurotic problems and finally all - in different time I would like to say - blamed that picture. I would say, I am very calm type, especiialy in times when others panic, but that picture I would never, never put above my bed :))) i like kich pictures with blue sky, doves etc. :)))

Gattina, I finally found that scene of shooting Behemoth :)) It is in the second half of this part http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6iq7FlWoZY&feature=relmfu
:))

I don't like most of Van Gogh's work, and yes I can imagine it might cause tension - different colours on the walls of a room are either calming or enlivening, so a painting could have a similar effect. The one I loathe above all others is Munch's The Scream - my sister had it on her sitting room wall for about 4 years, horrible thing...

Hahaha. Really? Yes, that one is on my Red List, too. But it is perfect picture. Just doesn´t bring peace. But that´s ART.
30 Jun, 2012
Hmm, well, a lot of things are produced which are said to be ART, Katrina - I must be a complete philistine, because I have to like the way something looks to appreciate it. Monet's more my cup of tea...
I remember my sister telling me she'd been to the Tate Gallery a few years back - they came to a room which looked like a building site - bricks on the floor, spades and shovels everywhere. So she walked straight across it, complaining they should have cleared up before the public came in - only to be told it was an art work...

Oh yes, that sort of art we have also here. But if i say ART, I mean art with capital "a". I think such things cannot be simply explained, but I understand why you like Monet - you used to create new landscapes too, like he was painting them, so there is something common in eye :))
By the way, Bamboo, I noticed you have a new avatar! A bit artistic, too :)))

What´s new going on in your garden?
1 Jul, 2012
Absolutely nothing, Katarina - weather's been appalling, everything's really slow, even the Lavender, which is normally coming up for its second flowering, is only just about to flower for the first time this year. I applied a very thick mulch back in April, just as the hosepipe ban came into place - that's meant no weeds, or very few. So its taken care of itself...
1 Jul, 2012
Hosepipe ban? What does that mean? You are not allowed to irrigate garden?
1 Jul, 2012
Yes, that's exactly what it means - you can't use a hosepipe or a sprinkler, but you can use watering cans. Two thirds of the country originally had a ban (officially called a Drought Order) up till early June, now its just one or two areas which can't use a hosepipe - mine included.
