Wow! And not a slug hole in sight. How do you do it!

I was saying that I think it is because of the small pebbles/gravel that is all around and on the fish pond side. They are supposed not to like going over them, otherwise I have no idea why they leave it alone. Just very lucky I think! :o)

Well we've got all the hostas in the bog garden adjoined to the pond and it is all covered with gravel. I even got some sharp grit out of the grit sand we had left and they still got to my hostas. Its like the lupins, I have tried absolutely everywhere in the garden and they still get eaten that badly that I lose them. So, this time I decided to put them in the new allotment borders and they are ( fingers crossed) doing really well.I can't weigh that up!

There are frogs and toads and newts so I suppose they do their fair share of scoffing too. I even found a baby froglet this morning in one of my borders. I was really chuffed to see that. Maybe that is the reason for no chewed up hostas near the pond. lol :o)

This area looks really pretty. I planted a lot of hostas in my back garden but I must have planted them too close together and they are virtually on top of one another. Having seen your photo I realise I will have to start moving them around and giving them a little space! I don't have too much problems with slugs and I am assuming its because we have so many birds coming into the garden.

Yes I think that is why we do not get too many, we have a thrush who sorts out the snails, the slugs I think are eaten by the frogs and toads, I haven't seen as many this year even though it is wet. (slugs and snails that is not frogs and toads) lol. The birds do a good job, we feed them all year round so we get lots coming and going through the year.
