This year saw the death of our beautiful Robinia Frisia, it has been looking very sad for at least three years and it has finally died......

Muddy we put it in about 8 years ago, so not old really!!
Karen yes but do not know whether to move our multi birch to take it's place or another tree altogether.......
Thanks San and Michaella it is sad and it leaves us very much exposed again all Summer...
Meadowland did you buy another? we are very tempted.

How sad . . . it's such a lovely tree. Have you considered a Whitebeam, Dotty? That's another pretty one.

That is a shame Dd, they are such a wonderful colour and shape, let's hope you can find something equally as beautiful to plant in it's place. I have the ordinary Robinia (bought as a Frisia) and need to have it heavily pruned in the autumn, or removed altogether, it has grown sky high....:((

Sheila we already have a Whitebeam in the garden, really dont know what to get, might just move the Betula Jacquemontii multi stem and then put a Robinia in their place?
Janey it is a shame, as we have now lost our privacy, and it takes trees some time to get established....will you remove your Robinia ?

Well, mine isn't the tree I wanted Dd....this one really is suited to a large open area and although it shades the very back of the garden in summer, it is growing too big. I would have liked a narrow evergreen or conifer that provided some winter interest instead. Not sure what I would choose really though.......

They were very popular in the 70's (when I was house-hunting my first home!) - do you know how old it was DD?
