Monsoon season officially starts July 1st in San Diego County. It starts a month earlier in Arizona.

so the monsoons are late...? Saw a map today of the drought areas of North America...serious problems from the Pacific coast into the midwest, Ohio and Pennsylvania and even parts of Georgia. Very dry in Ontario...30% crop failures are forecast...food prices rising by autumn/winter. We have had tornado warnings with very severe thunderstorms which knocked out our power for 18 hours. ...got some water but not enough to relieve the corn crop!

No, we usually only receive the clouds with the heat and humidity. Monsoon just means the change in the winds...which means for us the flow is from the south-east instead of the south or west. This flow typically brings the heavy rains to the low-subtropical deserts of California and Arizona and the mountains. We're lucky if we get any rain or showers from the clouds. Last year we did...it wasn't very much, though.

I hope you don't have any tornadoes! Just the much-needed rains.

We had high winds with a very fierce thunderstorm...but only for one day and now it's back to dry..dry..dry. Make sure I check the weather everyday...just to be on the safe side. but it looks like we may soon have some moisture..I sure hope it's enough to help the farmers.
