I to think they look stunning.
I presume the older they are the more they cost but some would be slower growing so guess that comes into it as well.
Do you have any that you have started from scratch. You show acers do you have others?the ones that catch my eye at shows are the Apple trees in flower.

Is there a trick to thickening the trunks? These are so gorgeous . . . much better than my bonsai!

Hi Sheilabub
I don't know really, I think the trick is with Acers or it is with me is to put a young tree in a big pot, force feed it for a couple or three years, keep it trim then transfer it into a small bonsai pot, feed every 2 weeks, that's what I do, lost a few though :-( You can always purchase a young Bonsai and bring it on in the same way
Thank you for your comment, I do look after them, I use Akidama soil for the Bonsai, erecaceous soil mixed with 30-40% agricultural grit for drainage on all other acers feed with phostrogen every 2 weeks from April through to end of September

Thanks very much Tubby! Brilliant . . . I shall probably repot my small Acers, Hawthorn, Apple, Euonymus and Copper Beech with Akidama soil and give them a good feed in the Spring. Looking forward to giving them a new lease of life! Adding this to faves to remind me :)
