Hibiscus species and varieties are very widely grown as landscape shrubs/trees here in San Diego.

I'm actually very surprised it's full of buds. I've been giving it lots of water because it's been so hot. My experience with most Hibiscus, is they need to be kept on the dry side.

There are two nurseries that list it, although both out of stock at the moment.

So it's not a common nursery item?

No, unlike H.rosa-sinensis which is.

Yes, we have hundreds of varieties of H. rosa-sinensis available for the landscape here. Almost every yard has at a least one.

Bit like here, except for it's almost every conservatory that has one!!
