Its lovely Scotsgran...I have an orange one with black specks...:>)

Do you have a photo on your page Motintot. I have not seen an orange one. My mother used to grow Tiger lilies they were orange too. I cr if they were speckled. I got a photo of the pink one today it is at least 2 weeks behind what it was last year. It only had a couple of flowers last year this year there are nine.

I love these, this one in particular. It is already on my wishlist.

Oji you can grow them from seed I believe but they could take 5 years to flower which might account for the high price of these.

I took bulbils off mine last year. They all sprouted and when I repotted them recently, the little bulbs were only about 1cm round. They are growing, though, so, maybe 5 years from now..........?

I would hope bulbils would be faster than seed. I read that you should leave them to spread naturally until they either fill their allocated space or are looking stressed. The recommendation was to dig them up and spread them around the garden. Mine are obviously all youngish plants because they don't have a lot of flowers. They should have up to 40 flowers when fully mature.

That is a beautiful plant, Scotsgran. It is so elegant. The prospect of their spreading around is really rather exciting!
Would it grow in a woodland setting, or does it need lots of light - if it doesn't flower until now, it might not like being under a canopy.

Mel neither of mine are in the open. At lower altitudes it grows in forests of oak or hornbeam and at higher altitudes it grows in tall perennial meadows or amongst shrubs.

You must sow some seed of this and your pink one.Will take 3-4 years to flower.

Can I collect seed from the plants I have or will I need to order them from the SRGC or Alpine Society. I'm picking your brains a lot at the moment, sorry about that, but I am so ignorant but I have a good Scots tongue in my head as the saying goes. All info gratefully received.

As long as your seeds ripen,sow your own.Whatever pleasure you get from brought in seeds will be doubled when your own flower.

Thanks Pcw. I have been out to see if there are pods there and there are some. Its just a case of wait and see if they ripen and split. I also read somwhere that they cannot pollinate themselves so these could be sterile.
