As you can see in this pic the flowers are pale pink & also it leaves, this is the color of the flowers when it doesn't receive much of sun.

Btw, there are male & female flowers, in this pic the flowers are female.

If it got too big you could cut it down to the size that you want it to be, then you could root those cutting to make another plants out of it.

It looking good! They can grow to 10ft/3.2m or taller. San Jose has a good climate for begonias as long as they're in shade...because of the high summer heat. I used to have several when I lived in San Jose.

My is 4ft tall grew in a pot, I think my like to be bating in the sun lol more then in the shade, as you can see in the pic the flowers look very pale & so I have to put it back out in the sun with no water that's when it color turn back to pink & dark red.
Is there any of your grow that tall (10ft) when you're in San Jose?

Steven143:

Typically, they would top out at 6-8 ft. tall. Capitola has some of the largest cane begonias I've ever seen: to 30ft/10m tall. I never knew they could grow to such heights.

That good, because to me I felt that it's better to be giving somethings that you don't want it any more, to someone else who needed it rather then throwing it away hehehe.

I haven't see any begonia grow that tall, but I have seen one at Lion Plaza long time ago, it was about 20ft tall that they pin it stalks against the wall up to the ceiling, to making it look like it was crawling on the wall.

When begonia grows very tall, it usually needs to be staked.

So do you like your Begonia to grow tall? As for me I don't like my Begonia grew any where taller then 4ft, because it will look leggy, every times it grew taller I have to break it tips off which I hate to do & see my Begonia plant with no tips, but I got no choices.

I usually let mine grow to 6ft/2m or so.
