Daylily 'Lips of Fire' (Hemerocallis)

This is my absolute favourite red, almost looks like velvet, a bit lighter colour than usual this year.

Thanks Clarice :-), far too many as my OH says, lol, he's banned me from extending the daylily bed anymore, I'll just do it when he's at work, he'll never notice, lol ;-)

He might suspect something when it doesn't take as long to mow the grass :)
You know that what causes the velvet sheen is the top layer of cells are shaped like a Russian onion dome instead of round (that comes from an article by Mahieu-Burris on hybridizing).

That really is well-named!

See Wylie I'm doing him a favour, lol, less grass to cut, he won't notice believe me, we were in a garden centre the other day and he commented on some plant being nice, he'd walked passed it many times in the garden while cutting the grass and never noticed it!!!!!
Agree Karen :-)
Thanks Homebird :-)
