Our neighbour back in Cheshire (mad as a hatter) used to buy huge cans of dog food for the foxes, and we'd occasionally find great lumps of it, imprint of the bottom of the tin and all, left on the lawn. They couldn't eat all she provided for them and they tried burying it in our garden. Very smelly, and one night we had an incredible, very noisy invasion of masses of (we think - it was too dark to see properly) stoats. They finished it off in very short order. We tried explaining to her about overloading the food chain, but she couldn't get it. We eventually started finding evidence of rats. Not so cuddly or photogenic!

thats a good point gattina ,in my old house my neighbour used to put out loads of food for the squirrels ,the trouble was in encouraged the rats to come i trapped 14 in a few weeks sadly the old fella passed away , the rats had no food so they dissapeared but dont worry my foxes dont leave a scrap ha ha ps im in cheshire too

14 rats! OMG! We used to have a squirrel that would come to the house and run up the pebbledash and rattle the doorhandle to tell us he/she was hungry. It did try the catflap once, but met our old moggy Thomas; not sure who was more surprised.

ha ha ,i have a westie & a jack russell i put a catflap in my door so they can go out whenever they want , mr fox decided to jump the gate & put his head through the flap because the dog food bowls was near it ,what a commotion the dogs went ballistic ha ha it tickled me
