Took these photos a few years ago, now wish that I hadn't removed this plant...it had got a bit overgrown and out of control but maybe I could have rescued it......

Thanks MuddyW, I ordered a replacement from Crocus yesterday!
I think the problem was that I pruned it at the wrong time of year so it only flowered one year and not the rest - the other years it was just overgrown green leaves. Live and learn!

Philadelphus . . . they do have the most wonderful scent for sure. You can get smaller varieties if you feel like replacing it Sarah - 'Manteau d'Hermine' for instance will grow to 75cms high x 150cms wide and has double, heavily fragrant flowers. :-)
