Not The Gloucestershire Panther?? :o/

LOL. Or the hound of the Baskerwill :)) To me they look more like dog´s paw prints, but I am not an Indian sleuth :))

What sort of dog was it?

N3tyy. My daughter SWEARS she saw a big cat in on the Stow to Cheltenham road one early morning last year!!
I am always on the look out for one, with cameraat the ready in the car, but have never seen anything remotely like one!
Have seen several deer (not sure what sort some of them are, but we do get Muntjacks around this area, which I have definitely seen.) There used to be a big herd in Barrington Park, but not sure if they are still there.

I reckon they are the prints of a Gruffle in your garden they are very rare and also extremley shy but definitely not dangerous, if you have one you are really honoured.

Well now Lazybones - never thought of a Gruffle, but that must have been what I caught a glimpse of behind the pile of rubbish at the end of the garden, just around dusk time!!
Maybe there is a gruffle lair there, so perhaps if I leave it alone I might get some little grufflings in a year or two running about the garden. Will post some pics on Goy if & when they show up!!! ;)))))

We've been told we have wild gruffles living round here, but we've never actually SEEN one. I did see a big lion up the top of the drive under the lamppost the other evening but we ignored each other. I'd been bottling and sampling homemade tipples ready for Christmas most of the evening, though, which could explain a lot...........

I used to make wine & had a few good bottles of various stuff. I think my best was when we had a huge glut of Vic plums, so I used those & the wine was like pink champagne when matured!!
I also had some pretty good dandelion one year - - well after a few years, because we forgot it & it was great when we eventually unearthed it again from the back of the garage!!
I also remember (& it still makes me mad!!!) I had quite a few demis bubbling away one year when we went away on holiday.
Son was a teenager at the time & when we returned - found he & his 'cronies' had drunk the lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
& it wasn't even ready!!
I hope they were sick with bad heads & stomachs for months!!
I DID RAGE WHEN MY SON SHOWED HIS FACE!!
I didn't see him for a couple of days - he had gone to ground with one of his mates!
As I say, it still makes me mad when I think of it & that must have been about the time I gave up making it - lost the enthusiasm after that!!

Perhaps the lion was that one talked about in the press recently!! ;')

No - he remembers it o.k. & if he doesn't, I remind him sometimes!!
He's lovely now though, at 40 plus!!

thanks for pointing me to this pic, Shirly. Are there claw marks visible in the imprint? read somewhere that's the difference between cat and dog paw prints; dog's claws will show as they're not retractable.

impressive size prints for a cat, as you say - wonder if anyone can work out its probable body size from the prints? if the prints were spread out, that might give some indication, stride being an indicator of height.

ps, what's a gruffle? (I've had a very sheltered upbringing!)

I think the Gruffles are a bit of a leg pull - a bit of fun Fran! Lazybones thought I had been having a bit of a tipple I think!!

I did have someone look at the prints at the time and we couldn't decide whether there were claw marks or not. He said if it there were claw marks it would more likely be a big dog!!
We never got to the bottom of it anyway.
It was a long time ago, because it was before we covered that area with bark chips for the grandchildren to play on and they are both teenagers now. Probably 9 or 10 years ago at least!!!!
