Its a geranium macrorrhizum Scottish, flowers from late spring to July. Bees absolutely love it! The flowers are a soft mauve.

Thanks you Tetrarch.....I have some geranium macrorrhizum - I haven't used it as underplanting for taller perennials but may do so now after seeing your picture

Looks great under roses too Scottish, but do use long handled shears when deadheading..I speak from painful experience!!!
