Does that mean, all Yahushimanum rhododendrons have on reverse this colour?

Kat in one word yes.
Although some of mine the colouration is more prominent than others but always there.

A lovely plant Brian, i met Percy Wiseman once in Windsor park as my dad specialized in rhodies and he came over to the prop dept.

Never had much luck propagating the large leaf ones,although I have layered them easily if they bend.

biggest problem is the size of the leaf, we used to strip all but the top 2 off then cut 1 of the remainig leaves in half but even then percentage of success was low. Grafting was best way.

Sounds interesting :) Maybe we should arrange something like "interview" blogs on this webpage, so that people with some experience in growing certain plants would interview each other. That would be very interesting and full of hard worn knowledge :)

It's an interesting idea I do try to take things a bit beyond showing just pictures ,as for instance my experiment in slicing up snowdrop bulbs which brought a number of enquires and comments, that one is still ongoing.
Yesterday I saw some very nice Bonsai Maples on here, I would like a demonstration of the root pruning.
