Could someone please tell me what this plant is?

See the plant with the pale green serrated leaves tinged with pink, on the left next to the pond? I can't remember for the life of me what it's called. I planted it 4 years ago and it's as happy as Larry in full sun and well drained soil. Do you know its name? BTW you won't see the climbing frame in a few years as I've just planted a wall of Beech to separate the kids' area from mine.

It looks like Sorbaria Sorbifolia 'Sem' Nicky. Isn't it a cracker? I used to have one, but it suckered very badly so it had to come out. Keep meaning to get another and keep in a pot. I love the way it comes into leaf very early with lovely red tufty foliage!

Sorbaria sorbifolia 'Sem"! Yes that's the one! Thanks so much KS. Have just looked it up and it looks like it could grow to 1.5m. Isn't suckering at the moment. Thanks again. Isn't GOY fantastic :)

Nicky - I had the same problem as Karen, it behaved itself for a few years then ran everywhere. Like her, I've just taken it out. I suggest you watch it carefully after about five years

Thanks Andrewr, but oh no just my luck! I've also a Rhus Typhinia threatening to do the same. If the Sorbaria does start to sucker, could I just keep on top of it by cutting the little heads off? Or will it be stifling surrounding plants beneath the surface? BTW am really appreciating all of your comments. Nicky

I wondered if it might be possible to sink a barrier around it to avoid the problem? like you would with a bamboo....

I think I'll do just that. Thanks.
