Mine didn't make it through the winter, even in the greenhouse. Looks lovely Brian.

Hi Linda, Rubedckias are pretty hardy, so it is strange. I did not find any comment from breeders of this sort that one should take more care of them then for other R. I think Brian has the same experience. We have stronger winters here, so I will see. But this one is beautiful, Brian. Thank you for the photo.

Oliveoil
We will find out in the next Six months or so.
I think I remember Spritz grew them a couple of years ago and did not find them hardy.

thanks Bjs. I have a small Rudbekkia which is supposed to be hardy growing at the moment. Time will tell on that too, very bushy but not very tall, did post pictures a while back, so I am keeping fingers crossed. I tend not to put anything in my garden which does not return as I hate re-planting stuff, but really love the colour of these Rudbekkias. Let us know how it fares please :O) If it survives I will give it a go 'cos it is very pretty.

O
The original yellow ones are perfectly hardy, it's the newer ones which are some kind of hybrid and have very thick stems that are suspect.

Yes I have Goldsturm it does fairly well in the borders, although one side where it got rather wet last winter did not fair too well this year. I just love the colours that they have bred into them, shame they cannot breed them hardy. lol. Ah well we cannot have everything! Would be nice if we could though. lol.

I have Goldsturm too....it is fine in my border. It can manage our Scottish winters.

Brian gave me a Goldsturm when we visited in the summer. It is still flowering it's head off. I'm very glad to hear it is hardy in Scotland Linda.

I havent found them hardy Brian. I do really like them though. I think you can get seed for them to raise as an annual. I have gone over to planting echinaceas with the hope they will survive the winter. I would be very interested to know if your rudbeckia cb comes through. Lets hope the winter is not too severe this year.

Poppy
the ones I have were from seed sown in spring took forever to get going,I don't think the weather has helped,I am not that optimistic of them surviving.
I have just a few Echinaceas and had buds rot on the stems it's been so wet, they had been OK previous years.
