How do you stop the slugs eating your lupins?

Well Cavehill.....I use grit, raw crushed egg shells and try to keep the area free from debris....i put these things in the hole at planting time too & a few pellets to get the underground snails....I pile lots on top around the plant base and keep an eye out for them....I do get some damage from time to time....:>)
