These are the only branches we wanted "the tree butchers" to remove. They were almost all they left on. T climbed up yesterday and cut them down. We wish we had done the job ourselves now in the first place.

I remember cutting one down HB it was a real tough job - I like the trunks they would look great within the garden - reason for liking there :)))

I have a huge trunk of one Homebird - I stacked them up - looks like an awaiting bonfire - but it is for little animals and things - love wood around the garden

that is great then :))

How annoyed you must have been. They'd make a great home for wildlife, though.

I often wonder if people are actually listening when you tell them what you want ... like the barber I went to last week - did the exact opposite of what I asked for ! lol just like your tree surgeons :o(

I've just "liked" this photo. I like the look of the wood, but NOT the fact that your tree was butchered.

If you stuck two pieces together, put a top and bottom on, and drilled a hole into the middle it would make a nestbox. Sorry that the tree surgeons got carried away with their surgery.

Remember that the hole must be a certain size for the blue tits and wrens and if you make a bigger box the woodpecker might use it. Also a larger square hole for the robins. (sorry I'm suggesting work here!)

If T needs another type of box to make as well... there is also a terrace block of homes for the sparrows.........

How frustrating. I know how you feel. Had a similar experience.
