We did not get on the water, I'm a little afraid to tell the truth, it is a killer. I caught this group slipping down a rush beneath the steep mountainside that eventually closes in for 110 miles through backcountry. Here on the main river we have this road and you can get out.

There are good rapids all along. It was named the river of no return by early explorers, no one could navigate it.

The Lewis and Clark expedition 1803 to cross North America to the Pacific stopped here, unable to traverse the river, named it thus, and then found a native guide who lost them in the mountains. The native girl with the group Sacagawea met her brother in this river valley and arranged for the guide through that connection.
